The MARS station at Rivers Barracks in 1973. I was in the process of taking over the station from SSG Clyde Johnson, who I believe was assigned to the 6/9TH FA BN, who was in charge of the station at the time. He was going back to the states in a few weeks. I used to run "phone patches" back to the states (aka: "The World", or, "The land of round doorknobs") (SSG Johnson passed away in 2004. He was retired and living in Sanford, North Carolina.) He and I were both ham radio operators, so that's how we ended up being chosen to be in the MARS station. That's also how I located Clyde in the states years later and know that he has since passed away. Martin Hall
