Grafenwöhr
The Grafenwöhr Training Area in northeastern Bavaria was established before World War I as an artillery live-fire range. It was greatly expanded before and during World War II, and is now the headquarters of the U.S. 7th Army Training Command, and the major U.S. live-fire range area in Germany. The best-known site at "Graf" is the elaborate water tower on the main post, with the military Forsthaus (forestry house) beside it.
